In 2023 we launched the Building Home Program in collaboration with the City of Boulder and Focus Reentry. The goal of the Building Home Program is to increase housing retention among formerly homeless individuals who have housing through Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) vouchers. The Building Home Program is broken up into two separate teams that work closely together: the Housing Retention Team and the peer team. The peer team is run by Focus Reentry.

The Housing Retention Team works to improve housing retention, build community, and reduce feelings of isolation by providing clinical mental health support to individuals in PSH units. Individuals are identified for support through referral from PSH staff. Individuals who are referred for services generally have concerns of housing instability, significant substance use and/or mental health symptoms, or are struggling with transitioning to housing from homelessness. The Housing Retention Team clinicians work closely with case managers and other community providers to provide wraparound support to address behaviors before they lead to eviction. In addition to working with individuals on acute concerns, the Housing Retention Team facilitates groups to help foster community and increase feelings of belonging.
